Greens and course coming on nicely despite the dry spell
Rewind one year to April 2021 and it’s fair to say that our greens weren’t the best they’d ever been - in fact I’d go as far to say that they weren’t good at all.
We were in a transitional period for the club where we were six months into implementing a whole new maintenance regime for the course (mainly the greens) and they had taken a step backwards as part of this.
I know a lot of our members at the time were questioning our practices (understandably) and were losing a lot of confidence in what we were doing.
Fast forward one year to now and we’re very pleased to say the greens have made brilliant progress - in fact we can’t remember them ever performing this well so early in the season.
Despite the dry Spring with persistently cold Easterly winds, the greens are looking healthy and rolling well already. Once we have some rainfall and the wind becomes warmer and from the west they should get to their potential very quickly.
That doesn’t mean to say we can just sit on our laurels thought, there is still a lot of room for improvement in the greens and the maintenance plan we have put in for 2022 will help bring them on even more. The big thing we are focusing on is to trust the process and the results will follow - and we are seeing the start of that in the 2022 season.
