Greens running as good as they ever have

The team have been working extra hard on the greens over the past year and alongside the new greensmower giving us a beautifully even cut, the results are some of the truest and quickest greens we have seen at Burstwick.

Much of the extra attention to the greens goes unseen, including scarifying, spiking, verticutting, and light sanding applications along with a myriad of chemicals and fertilisers have really helped us improve the health of the greens, and this results in better putting surfaces. The hard work never stops though, it is usually around this time of year (mid July) we see a small outbreak of Take-All patch, so we are continually monitoring the greens for this and will act accordingly if that arives.

We have had our annual soil tests taken this week and expect to see the results in a month’s time to find out what is going on in the chemistry underneath but so far in 2024 the greens have been exceptional and we will continue to work as hard as we can to keep this going forward.
