AS many may already know we have been working very hard on getting our greens in shape for the winter, and over the past 12 months have invested a lot of money, time and effort into getting the surfaces healthier, meaning that they can battle disease and winter wear much more resiliently.

Although they are still not perfect we are pleased to say they are a lot healthier than this time last year, which is a great indicator of future performance. The photo on the right was taken on Wednesday 29thy September 2021. Greens 5, 8 and 9 have are still suffering after a bad case of Take-All Patch but we have overseeded all the greens and they are battling to recover and let new growth come through.

There’s still a long way to go but we have just started a winter aeration schedule for the greens which will include alternating between micro-tining and deep slitting greens every week to keep oxygen in the rootzone for healthier roots and faster break down of thatch and organic matter.

Don’t worry - the micro-tining and deep slitting won’t affect how the ball rolls on the greens, they surface disruption is very small.

We’re really excited about what the next 12 months hold for the club, with extra green staff and machinery we can really make a difference to the presentation of the course throughout the year!
