Biggest ever prize table for the annual Pro-Am sponsored by Pro Sports Cars!

What a fantastic day we had at the club last Friday for the annual Pro-Am sponsored by Pro Sports Cars!

We had some very changing weather in the week leading up to the event but we looked up and thanked Mother Nature for providing us with a warm, dry day with very little wind - perfect golfing conditions despite the sun not showing her face much.

We had a couple of tough challenges in the lead up to the day - one being our fairway mower breaking down and spending a day in the workshop being repaired, plus the 32mm of rain that arrived on Wednesday which pushed the course backwards - but Mark and the team worked relentlessly to get the place in fantastic shape for Friday morning.

On the day Pro Sports Cars brought some very flash cars to put on show along with various flags and paraphernalia, and the girls from PSC made sure all the golfers felt welcome on the 1st tee, the event as always had a truly special feel about it.

The half-way house was taken care of by our willing volunteers Bob & Sarah Leonard who always look after everyone at the turn - thank you to you both!

On to the golf and due to the softer greens and very little wind the course was more scorable in many ways than usual, but tight pin positions meant that players needed to plot their way around and be careful not to play themselves out of a hole.

Scoring was very good with 13 professionals shooting under par, but the winner James Drinkall shot 66(-4) so it was extremely tight at the top!

The leading team from the day consisted of three Burstwick members: Sam Bamford, Shaun Hutchins and Mark Sharpley, who together with their professional Sam Wilkinson shot a fantastic team score of 122 (-18) to win by two shots. It’s always nice to see a home team win so well done lads!

Thank you to our headline sponsor Pro Sports Cars, and all of the other sponsors that helped us put on such a fantastic day. To all the players and professionals who supported this amazing event, and particularly to Andy Smith of the YPGA for his efforts in bringing it all together, a massive thank you we will see you all again next year!
