Course looking fantastic in the run up to Summer
After a very long and difficult winter our team has been working extremely hard on the course to get it looking as good as possible for the playing season.
As every course manager and greenkeeper in the UK knows, the last winter has been the toughest in recent history with unprecedented and record breaking amounts of rain, but we are now into the growing season and our team have smashed it out of the park.
In very wet winters there are difficult decisions to be made every day - do you close the course to protect it, or do you open it to keep golfers happy at that moment at the risk of spoiling it? At Burstwick we’d always rather err on the side of caution and protect the course - yes it initially costs us money at that moment, and in winter’s like the last the number of closed days is not pretty at all - but we are now paying dividends and the course is looking brilliant because we have been so protective.
It’s lovely to see stripes and happy golfers everywhere, so long may it continue!
