Competition Entry Fee & Prize Money Increasing from 1st April

The Competition Committee has decided that the main club competitions on a Thursday, Saturday and Sunday will have their entry fee increased for the first time since they were introduced in 2005, and therefore the prize money is going up by a significant portion.

The standard entry fee will now be £4 (plus £1 for the twos club).

Some people are aware of this and we wanted to make it clear that we understand that a lot of costs are increasing at the moment, and the main reason for this increase is that the prize pots have been the same for nearly 20 years. The truth is, winning £50 in a competition that long ago got you a lot more value than it does now - back then clubs were half the price they are now! So this idea was proposed by a member of the committee and it was unanimously decided to go ahead with it.

Prizes will not only be higher, but they will extend further down the leaderboard.

As an example, if a weekend competition with 96 players in, with the old method the winner would have won £35 for overall and £15 for their division, with the new system the same person would win £40 overall and £18 for the division. Not only that, overall prizes would go down to 8th, instead of 5th on the old system. The total prize pot would go from £206 to £294. The rest of the money (as before) goes towards the Competition Treasurer (which covers things such as trophy engraving, honours boards updates, presentation night costs, etc) and administration.

Let’s look forward to a great summer at the club and more prize winners than ever before!
