The BDR’s win the Target Golf League 2024!
That’s the end of our Target Golf League for 2024! Last Friday we hostred the final night of the league and it was a big event with it all to play for as there were double points available and three challenges for everyone to have a go at!
The challenges for the evening were an Approach Challenge at Centro National de Golf, a Driving Challenge at The Belfry and a Nearest Pin at Torrey Pines.
Going into the final week the leaders of the league were Pinnacle’s Hole-in-One who were on 75.5 points - just one ahead of the Big D Ricks! In third place were The Bisby Babes, 7.5 points behind the top spot.
The weather was rather fresh on the final evening but not as cold as it had been earlier in the week at around 5 degrees, still definitely enough for players to have their heated gilets and hand warmers turned right up though!
The idea of holding the final night on a Friday (when the rest of the league nights are Thursdays) is that people can let their hair down a little more with not having work the next day, and that they did!
In game one Pinnacle’s Hole-in-One extended their lead by two points with a straight-up win, making them outright favourites for the title but in game two they faltered as the BDR’s came steaming through to take the lead. It was all down to the Nearest Pin and while Pinnacle threw absolutely everything at it to take the challenge win, it wasn’t quite enough as the BDR’s finished within touching distance of that final event and ultimately take the title by just one point! The Bisby Babes pipped Golfaholics Anonymous by a point to third place too, wow!
It was our tightest finish yet in Target Golf which made it a very entertaining evening on the driving range. Over £900 worth of prizes was handed out to the top four teams so there were some happy faces in the clubhouse afterwards.
