Vertiquake aerator used to help Winter drainage
Last week we hired a tractor and Vertiquake aeration machine for our fairways and walkways to help relieve compaction, allow oxygen into the soil and help with overall drainage on the golf course. The last few winters have been extremely wet and we have put in some extra drainage, but our high traffic areas have become very compacted, so getting the water to the drains has proved difficult recently. That’s where the Vertiquake comes in.
The Vertiquake uses curved blades so slice into the soil and leave a channel up to 12 inches deep, allowing surface water to travel down deep into the soil profile much more quickly.
Those with a keen eye will spot the sliced lines all around the golf course, the machine has left a very neat finish to as to not affect the way the surfaces play.
