Juniors do the club extremely proud at Ganton
On Sunday 18th September our Junior Team competed in the 2022 East Riding Junior League Final at Ganton Golf Club in a bid to become Junior League Champions for this season. The team of Ashton Webb (Captain), Alex Hewitson and Tom Ward were returning to familiar ground after reaching the final a year ago and finishing second, and the lads wanted to go one better in 2022. Stiff competition was brought by Hornsea and Hull Golf Club which meant it was going to be a very tough task for the Burstwick team to come away victorious.
We snuck into the final in 3rd place in the summer league so Burstwick were definitely the underdogs but experience of last year’s final was going to help the lads play as well as possible and compete for the title of Junior League Winners 2022.
The course played tough and you could see players from each club struggling if they hit errant shots into the punishing rough, and this was reflected by the scores. 29 points was the best individual score from George Pepper from Hull Golf Club, and our lads managed 25 points for Tom and Alex, and 19 points for Ashton. These scores secured Burstwick 2nd place in as many years and although the lads didn’t get the victory they wanted it was still a great effort and result which the club are very proud of! Well played boys.
