Burstwick Green Staff hit by COVID
It is with regret that we announce that (as of 23rd August) two of our green staff tested positive last week for COVID, and a third greenkeeper is self isolating. Alan Key (who was going to be working on the course in their absense) has also tested positive therefore the club is down to extremely minimal greenkeepers this week, with the hopes of returning back to full strength on Tuesday 31st August.
This couldn’t have come at a worse time for the club as this week has been greens maintenance week, which has meant it has been a very stressful time for us. We are doing our very best to try and get the greens maintenance finished, and do what we can to present the course for this coming weekend.
A big thank you goes out to the members who have helped us out this week by volunteering to assist with greens maintenance, Paul Rimmer, Neil McBride and Les Fuller - without you we couldn’t have got it finished. Also thank you to Sean McDonnell and Chris Steward for helping out when we need it most. David Key has also worked tirelessly from early morning into the evening to keep the coring machine going as it is a very long task - he thought 12-14 hour days were behind him!
We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience and hope that you unserstand this is a very extreme circumstance that we have not seen before, and probably couldn’t have been timed worse.
In the meantime, clubhouse staff have been double jabbed and also taken lateral flow tests to check they have not been affected, so the facilities will stay open unless anything else changes. We will keep everyone updated.
Thank you
The Key Family.
