FAQs on Reopening the Golf Course

Recently we published our plan for reopening (here) which detailed some rules and information on post-lockdown golf. This was received very well but since then we have received a number of questions so we thought we would create this FAQ to help golfers with any queries they have.

Q. Can visitors play or is it members only at the moment?

Answer: Visitors are welcome to play under the same rules as members, but must book and pay online here. For the time being no visitor bookings will be taken over the phone or by email / messaging.

Q. Can I turn up to play if it’s a quiet time?

Answer: For the time being we have limited golf to bookings only, and these are from 7am to 6:30pm. No golfers will be allowed to turn up and play unless they have a tee time booked. If you are a member you can book online here.

Q. I am a member and have never booked online before, how do I log in?

Answer: You need to register here using your member number as your username (E.g. 465), pick your own password, and submit. Once submitted you will receive an email when the club has enabled you, this could take up to a few hours.

Q. Can members bring a guest? If so how would they pay?

Answer: Members are welcome to book a guest in their two-ball under the current rules. To pay for their round they must use bank transfer until Tuesday 19th May, from that point we hope to have someone in the clubhouse to accept card payments via contactless. The bank details are as follows:

Ted Key & Son (Farmers) LTD
09-02-22
10072136

Some online banking apps may say there is a problem with the name matching the account, but if you double check the account and sort code you can choose to override this issue, and the money will still come to us.

Q. Are you still taking applications for memberships?

Answer: Yes we are indeed but they must apply online here, and if paying up front they must pay by bank transfer to the details above. If you would like to pay by direct debit please apply with Premium Credit here. Please be aware that it can take us up to 5 working days to be in touch with regards to new memberships due to the shear amount of enquiries we are receiving at the moment on top of having limited staff.

Q. Can I book for 9 holes?

Answer: For the time being you must play the holes in order of 1 to 18 (you can’t play 1,2 then 12-18), so are theoretically booking on to play 18 holes, however there is no problem with coming off the course before completing 18 holes providing social distancing is observed when walking back to the car park.

Q. Are the Putting Green and Chipping Area Open?

The Putting Green is closed and off limits, but the chipping area remains open. Please observe our social distancing rules, use your own balls and do not touch flag sticks.

Q. I see 3 and 4 balls are allowed to book after 3pm, does that mean singles and two balls can’t?

Answer: They still can, singles and two balls can play all day.

Q. What if I have a family member who lives in a different household, can we have a 3 or 4 ball?

Answer: No, as per the government guidelines, the only time a 3 or 4 ball is allowed is if the players are ALL from the same household.

Q. What if four people work together? Surely they can play golf together?

Answer: No, this is not allowed by the government guidelines. We' don’t make the rules but must adhere to them, so there are no exceptions.

Q. Are there any special rules for over 70s?

Answer: As far is the club is concerned we enforce no rules for specific age groups.
