Fantastic turn out for Captains' Drive In!
On Saturday 1st February 2020 the Captains hosted their Drive In and there was a fantastic turn out for the event! A host of Burstwick members attended in the cold hours of the morning to watch the Men’s Captain Dave Smith, Ladies’ Captain Sarah Leonard, Seniors’ Captain Steve Lees and Juniors’ Captain Alex Hewitson kick off their captains’ year.
Men’s Captain Dave Smith organised a fantastic half-way house, with his partner Jayne and another members’ partner Sam (better half of Jamie Gill) offering sandwiches, sausage rolls, muffins, beers and hot drinks in exchange for a donation to the Men’s Captain’s Charity - MacMillan Cancer Support.
Coupled with the putting competition ran by Past Captains Brian Wilson and Andy Wilson, the members raised nearly £300!
The Texas Scramble attracted over 80 players on a very, very tough day on the links. The weather brought winds of 30mph+ so scoring was high, with a team of Pete Etherington, Lee Webster and Alex Foster and Chris Young winning posting the low number of 60.6.
