Weather didn’t dampen most successful Pro-Am to date
On Friday 25th May we hosted our most high profile event of the year, the annual Pro-Am sponsored by The Audio Room. This event is run by the Yorkshire PGA, and attracts PGA Professionals from all over Yorkshire and further afield.
The day started with pouring rain and a forecast that was changing every half hour, but players remained positive and went out in the bad conditions to battle for the coveted prize pot worth over £6,000.
The first tee was at 10am and the rain stopped around 12pm, so the first 12 teams or so had to handle the rain in some shape or form, but the remaining 19 teams were lucky enough to stay dry throughout the afternoon.
In the end the top four teams and professional scores came from afternoon tee slots with the two winning professionals Matt Daley and Rob Calderbank shooting 67 in the afternoon. Home professional James Bisby put in a great score of 68 to finish tied third, which made many of the Burstwick members very happy.
The winning team consisted of James Bisby (pro), myself, Mark Webb and James Thompson, and with a score of -19 pipped another team of Burstwick members by one shot. I was personally delighted with the win, firstly because the first prize was fantastic but also because we (the same four players) placed very poorly in 2017, so we righted a few wrongs out there!
